Tail Wagging Tales

There is more to how this good doggy arrived at this conclusion, but I have yet to figure it out. Pandering to the audience? Or a warning to others? Who is the audience? Is it a tale of unconditional service? Or forced servitude? Has anyone written about the philosophy of dogs? They would have a most interesting point of view.
